Colophon
This page provides an overview of my tools and processes in my creative work.1 I doubt it will be interesting to most visitors, but I’ve decided to compile this information in one place because people ask me these questions from time to time.
Typefaces
The typeface used for the On Mountains logo, and for the headers on the On Mountains micro site, is Semplicità, a geometric modernist typeface from 1920s Italy. I’m using the digitized version from Studio di Lena.
Tech stack
This site is built using Hugo, a static site generator. I designed the site from scratch. The site’s comments are pulled from Bluesky using their API, with help from Kaushik Gopal. This site is hosted on SiteGround. I send most of my newsletters using the RSS campaign options via MailerLite. For my podcasts, I used PowerPress to publish and host my media on AWS, but for On Mountains I’ve decided to use Spotify to keep things simple. ARTIFACT INTERNATIONAL runs on Patreon.
Podcasting gear
For podcasting, I use the Rode Procaster XLR microphone with a Behringer UMC204HD interface. I also use a Behringer UCA202 with the other device to create a mix-minus environment for my interviews.
Travel gear
My main travel bag is an Osprey Farpoint backpack. Packing light is the way to go. This backpack is carry-on compliant.
